95 Boys Olympic Development Program (ODP)
|
The Missouri Olympic Development Program for the 95 Boys
State Team will be Coached by John Roeslein and the Assistant Coach Jason Roeslein. The 95 ODP State Team final selection
will be about 1 week after the Missouri State Cup for boys. This is usually some time in June. The
selection process will be the evaluation of players at ODP Tryouts, Games and Club Game evaluations. ODP Practice games
are generally against College Teams, College Players or a mixture of allstar players with college grads mixed in the games.
This gives attending college coaches an excellent guage on how these potential recruits will fair against college players.
We have two groups with in the 95 ODP program:
Group 1: Registered Players who have registered at www.mysa.org and went to the ODP drop down to get registered. These Players have given notification of their interest to participate
in the ODP program and will be evaluated 2 times at ODP Tryouts. Coach Roeslein will determine from these tryouts
whether or not he should continue to evaluate the player at the players club games. Coach Roeslein will also
determine if the player should be brought into the pool for any pool games. Notification of these events will be
by email and prompt response is expected.
Group 2: Pool Players.
The pool players are brought into the program by invitation only. This is generally a group of players which Coach Roeslein has seen play and evaluated. When asked into the pool you will be asked to register and once a month
the coach will email and request your availability for pool games. Coach Roeslein has very high regard for the clubs
and the work they do and believes in work with the players club coach and asking permission to bring in their players for
pool games with the ODP program. If there is a schedule conflict between Club and the ODP event - Coach Roeslein expects
the player to be available for their club when the club needs them.Pool players will have opportunities
to play vs college players in December, January, February, March, April and May. June is to close to Cup time so their
will be no pool games at this time, but Coach Roeslein will continue to evaluate players at their club games. The pool
games are promoted with some 50 college coaches and have been scouted on a regular basis. At the end
of the Missouri State Cup the 18 players from the State Team will be selected along with about 6 alternates. The alternates
are in place should a State Team Player has an injury or for personnel reasons can not attend the Regional ODP Tournament
in July. Also, any player who is a member of a State Team Champion that wins Club Regional Championship and then moves
on to the National Championship with their club will not go to the ODP Regional and an alternate will go in there place.
The reason for this is - the Regional ODP tournament overlaps with Club Nationals and it is not fair to the player, club or
club teamates to put this physical demand on a player - and I will not intefere with the Club coaches hard work, and the club
team players hard work to achieve this great honor.
